ALT keys: http://french.about.com/od/writing/ss/typeaccents_7.htm

Microsoft Word only: http://www.ehow.com/how_5609856_type-accent-marks-microsoft-word.html

PC laptop: FN+F11 activates the keypad; then type ALT codes

Mac: http://french.about.com/od/writing/ss/typeaccents_8.htm

One of my 8th grade students (Lucas) has some more suggestions for Mac users:

To help if you’re lazy and/or don’t feel like clicking the mac link, here are the basics:

For aigu, press option + e
For grave, press option + `
For cedille, press option + c

For each of these, you then type the letter you’re putting the accent on.(excepting ç, which is automatic)

Note: Option + Shift + ^, to my knowledge, will NOT create a circonflexe. To get that, you need to use the article linked to in this blog post.
